Coach Marshall began wrestling at Brookville High School as a sophomore under Olympic alternate, Don Shuler. Before the start of his senior season, he traveled overseas to Moldova to compete and train in freestyle wrestling with "Athletes in Action" in 2008. After graduating high school in 2009, Coach Marshall continued his education at Lynchburg College where he also founded the Lynchburg College Wrestling Club, a sports program that had been cut in the late 70's due to Title IX. During his time with the LC Wrestling Club, Coach Marshall was able to compete in top notch tournaments, including the NCWA National Duals in Dalton, Georgia. Also, while attending Lynchburg College, he served as the head coach of the Brookville Middle School wrestling program. It is also worth noting that out of the BMS wrestlers that he coached, four went on to high school later to become state champions, seven were state placers, and two were state qualifiers. After graduating from Lynchburg College, he was hired as a middle school health and physical education teacher at Rustburg Middle School and took on the role as Head Coach of the varsity wrestling team at Rustburg High School. During his first two years as the head coach, he was voted as the Conference 30 Coach of the Year in both the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 seasons. In the past eight seasons, under coach marshall, Rustburg Wrestling has sent wrestlers to compete in the 3A Virginia State Championship tournament. Coach Marshall is entering into his 8th season of coaching for Rustburg High School. He currently resides in Lynchburg, Virginia with his wife (Lauren), two sons (Levi and Mason), and daughter (Ellie Mae).
