About The program...
Rustburg High School Wrestling became a part of Rustburg High School Athletics in 1979. The current coaching staff holds the belief that every student-athlete, at every age, would benefit from the amazing sport of wrestling. Rustburg Wrestling has partnered with Campbell County Recreation Department to create a youth wrestling program for kindergarten through eighth grade children. This youth program is a proud member of the Central Virginia Youth Wrestling Association (CVYWA). The Rustburg High School Varsity Wrestling program is a member of the Virginia High School League (VHSL), currently competing for the 3A State Championship title. The varsity wrestling program is rich in tradition and history and it is our ultimate goal to challenge the youth of today on and off of the wrestling mats. We would like to see wrestling grow in the Rustburg community as well as the region. In the past eight years, the numbers for our program have grown with each season. As a program that thrives on being challenged as well as challenging others, our focus and philosophy is to help young student-athletes become stronger, more disciplined, more confident, and more perseverant. Ultimately, we firmly believe in the words of Dan Gable: “Once you have wrestled, everything else in life is easy!”
